2023 set a new record for gaming revenues in the U.S. According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), total revenue from land-based casino games, iGaming, and sports betting reached $66.65 billion in 2023, a 10%  increase from 2022.

With the inclusion of tribal gaming, when the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) reports its 2023 revenue figures, total gaming revenue for the U.S. last year will likely exceed $110 billion.

Gaming taxes also broke its 2022 record, with commercial gaming operators paying $14.42 billion in 2023, an increase of 8.5%.

The top five gross gaming markets in 2023 were:

  1. Las Vegas, NV

  2. New Jersey

  3. Chicagoland, Illinois

  4. Baltimore- Washington D.C.

  5. Mississippi Gulf Coast

With strong growth in 2023, 2024 should be an interesting year for gaming, especially as states legalize and expand online gaming and sports betting.
