Sports Betting
Dec 10: In New York, Bill A9343Â was introduced, which would ban all live sports betting in the Empire State.Â
Dec 29: Chicago’s newest city budget went into effect and included a provision that would impose a 10.25% tax on online sports betting revenues generated within the city and require operators to obtain city-level licenses. The Sports Betting Alliance (SBA) has filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago over these provisions.Â
Casinos
Dec 7: Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated in an interview that he was not yet ready to support legalizing gambling in the state. This is the latest setback for gaming legalization efforts in the state.Â
Dec 15: The NYSGC voted to approve three downstate conditional casino licenses. Bally’s, Hard Rock, and Resorts World were the recipients of the licenses.Â
Dec 22: Indiana lawmakers are planning on introducing legislation to authorize a casino in Indianapolis. Legislation has not been introduced yet; however, an Indianapolis casino has bipartisan support in the state house.Â
